Our K-9 Crew
Rest in Peace Meg Train
Oct 2011 - July 2022
After Adam and I met, our love for dogs grew. We rescued our first puppy only three months after we started dating. Our baby girl’s name was “Omega”, or “Meg” for short. Her tail was partially docked by the people that had her, and we jokingly nicknamed her “Half Wags”. She also used to chew on everything she could get her teeth on when she was a puppy and we called her “Chew Chew Train”. That was then combined with “Meg” to create “Meg Train”. She answered to “Meg Train” from then on out. She was so full of love and happiness, and brought joy to our little family. She was ten years old in 2022. Six months after the passing of my mom, we found out that Meg quickly developed breast cancer. Two weeks later we were putting our baby girl to sleep. We did our best to always give her a happy life, and only hoped she felt as loved from us as we did from her. We miss our “Big Girl” so, SO bad. Her little sister misses her too.
Tex
Meg’s little sister is “Little Texas”, or “Tex” for short. One of our stops along the way throughout our journey to Alaska was in San Antonio, Texas. It was getting close to my birthday in 2017 and I could not stop thinking about Chihuahuas. I wanted one SO badly! Adam came home from work one day and I just blurted out, “I want a Chihuahua.” He said, “Okay. I love Chihuahuas.” I found this beautiful girl online, instantly messaged the owners, and we had her in our arms soon later. Here we are years later with a little nugget of joy with the personality the size of Texas, hence the name! The day we brought this little three pound puppy home to meet her sister Meg, they were connected at the hip from then on. Meg Train took care of Tex, and Tex took care of Meg Train. Even on Meg’s last day with us, Tex was loving on her big sister and became just as sad and lonely as Adam and I did when she passed. Tex truly helped Adam and I through many hard times after my mother and Meg Train passed away in 2022.
Glacier
It became just the three of us for quite awhile, until we decided that it was time for us to get another big dog. We could see that Tex needed a companion, and honestly, we did too.
On May 7th, 2023, we brought home this little fuzz nugget! Living in Alaska, this little guy was born at -20°F on February 24th. Wanting to name him something meaningful to us, unique, and inspired by Alaska, we went back and forth before finally deciding on “Glacier”. Glacier grew like a weed in the middle of an Alaskan summer! The big boy you see in the photo at the top is the same puppy you see here! We jokingly call him “Miracle Grow”! He has become completely infatuated with his sister Tex, following her like a shadow everywhere she goes. Having been blessed with getting to watch Glacier grow day by day, and Tex learning to love him and become happy again, was a heartwarming experience.
Throughout the time that we had Glacier, we watched how quickly he was growing, and how full of energy he was. We soon knew we had to get another large breed dog to match his energy.
On October 2, 2024, we adopted our newest addition, Kodiak. This cutie to the right is the most rambunctious scaredy cat you’ll ever meet. Ha! On the way home in the car, he loved being held, and fell fast asleep during the ride. When we brought him into the house, he was so quiet and sweet, but SO timid and scared to be touched or held when our other dogs were around. They were curious of him, and vice versa, and they played well together. But, as soon as Adam or I would try to love on him or give him any attention, he was terrified. It has taken time, learning each others boundaries and slowly getting Kodi more used to us, but he is finally starting to come around and enjoying being loved on now.
Kodiak
We love every one of our fur babies equally and love to spoil the crap out of them! Watching their eyes sparkle and tails wag with delight as they receive their favorite treats and toys—and as they explore the wilds of Alaska with us—fills us with joy.
